The White House to The Charm'tastic Mile

There are famous streets in America from Wall Street (New York) & Broadway (New York), Rodeo Drive (Beverly Hills), Bourbon Street (New Orleans), Michigan Avenue/The Magnificent Mile (Chicago), The Vegas Strip (Las Vegas), Lombard Street (San Francisco) & the most famous of them all Pennsylvania Avenue (Washington D.C.).

The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue home of the most powerful person in the world. The City of Baltimore is the closest major city to The White House and Pennsylvania Avenue. Baltimore has the famous Inner Harbor, but now they are also going to have one of the most famous streets here in America and also around the globe.

The Charm'tastic Mile of Baltimore or "The Mile" the soon-to-be iconic 1.3 mile corridor of downtown "Charm City". The White House to The Charm'tastic Mile is 1-hour 8 minutes (42 miles) away via Baltimore-Washington Parkway and MD-295 N., 1-hour 10 minutes away (47 miles) away via I-95 N. (courtesy of Google maps).

The Charm'tastic Mile was inspired by The Magnificent Mile in Chicago the iconic 13 blocks of Michigan Avenue. It was introduced to Baltimore on April 25, 2016. The Mile shares the same introduction date (April 25, 1951) to the city as the Domino Sugars neon sign.

The Charm'tastic Mile will become the closest of the famous streets of a major city to The White House and that will help elevate the profile of Charm City the nickname the city was given back in 1975 by then Mayor William Donald Schaefer. 42-years later The Charm'tastic Mile is 42 miles away from The White House.

The "Big 3" of the Charm'tastic Mile

The Charm'tastic Mile of Baltimore or simply "The Mile" is the honorary name for the 1.3 mile corridor that runs through the main stretch of downtown Charm City. The Charm'tastic Mile was inspired by The Magnificent Mile (Chicago) the famous 13 blocks of Michigan Avenue that is known around the world.

When the term "Big 3" is used most people often think of new Ice Cube 3-on-3 league or NBA basketball. During the 1980's it was the Boston Celtics "Big 3" of Hall of Fame players Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish. The Los Angeles Lakers had their version of the "Big 3" with (HOF Players) Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar & James Worthy.

In the 1990's the Chicago Bulls featured Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen & Dennis Rodman as their "Big 3". In recent years the Miami Heat had their version with superstar LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & Chris Bosh. For more that a decade the San Antonio Spurs rolled with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker & Manu Ginobili.

The Golden State Warriors the current 2017 NBA Champions have a solid "Big 3" with Steph Curry, Kevin Durant & Draymond Green.

The "Big 3" of The Charm'tastic Mile are the three major sections of the 1.3 mile stretch Downtown West/Convention Center, Inner Harbor & Harbor East. All 3 are connected to make one of the next "Great Avenues" of America.

The backdrop of the Downtown West/Convention Center  area is Oriole Park, M & T Bank Stadium & the University of Maryland (Downtown). The Inner Harbor is made up of the 2 iconic pavilions, the Gallery Mall, Science Center, World Trade Center & the National Aquarium. There are numerous restaurants and eateries with fashion stores that make up the Inner Harbor and Harborplace.

Harbor East is the anchor of The Charm'tastic Mile with its chic & stylish stores, upscale hotels, restaurants & hi-rise apartments/condos. It's the crown jewel of downtown and truly gives "The Mile" the image of Michigan Avenue.

The Charm'tastic Mile is seeking to have an honorary street sign placed in each of the 3 areas that make up "The Mile".
