Famous & professional athletes live lavish lives. They have the opportunity to purchase luxury items from cars, clothes, mansions & expensive wine. There is a huge wine culture here in America not just with athletes but also with everyday working people who have a new found love for wine.
The Charm'tastic Mile of Baltimore is the honorary name for the 1.3 mile corridor that runs from MLK Jr. Blvd & Pratt Street wants to bring together the athletes & wine culture with a new blog titled "Ballers on The Vine".
There are numerous former athletes that are now part of the wine culture. Drew Bledsoe the Super Bowl winning quarterback from the New England Patriots (1993-2001) has a marvelous winery named Doubleback www.doubleback.com. His wines are spectacular and have garnered high ratings from various wine publications. Bledsoe grew up in Washington State and was surrounded by the growing wine culture of the area during the late 80's and early 90's.
Joe Montana the 4-time Super Bowl winning quarterback from the San Francisco 49ers has been in the wine culture for many years. He has teamed up with Sbragia Family Vineyards to produce a Napa Valley Cabernet named "Montagia". Dwyane Wade the 3-time NBA Champion has a collection of wines the Wade Red Blend & Wade Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
LeBron James the most well-known superstar in sports today has become a big-time wine lover. It started only 3-years ago when James was about 30-years old. His palate was not accustomed to the dry taste of red wine, but over that period of time he has grown into quite the wine aficionado. Carmelo Anthony the star forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder like LeBron has elevated his taste in wine. He once purchased a bottle Chateau Petrus the luxury label French Bordeaux that can go for 3,000.00 to 5,000.00 dollars for a single bottle.
The "Ballers on The Vine" blog will interview athletes on their love of sports & the wine culture. We will also ask them to rate from (1-5cork screws) on their favorite wines or wines that they have sampled.
